Business Development Manager

Job description

I'm very excited to be exclusively partnering with an AmLaw Top 20 firm as they continue to expand their Transactional team with the addition of a high-caliber Business Development Manager.

This role will support practice group leadership in the execution of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing the profile and market presence of the firm's Transactional practice across its Canadian offices. The successful candidate will work closely with practice group leaders, the Director of Business Development, and Partners/Attorneys to develop innovative approaches to new business generation and deepen existing client relationships. This position presents an excellent opportunity for a business development professional ready to take the next step and play a more influential role in both team-level and broader practice strategy.

The firm is seeking candidates with 5+ years of experience in legal business development, ideally supporting transactional practices. In addition to strong technical expertise, this individual should be highly collaborative and motivated to contribute to a best-in-class firm culture.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Serving as a trusted advisor to lead partners, supporting their efforts to strengthen personal brands, expand practices, and achieve individual business development objectives.
  • Developing and maintaining a strong understanding of key clients, market dynamics, business trends, and the competitive landscape.
  • Collaborating with partners to gather and share knowledge related to skills and experience, enhancing practice group capabilities and elevating client service standards.
  • Managing practice group awards and rankings, including overseeing submissions to Chambers and other leading legal directories, and advising on key messaging and submission best practices.
  • Supporting the preparation of RFP and RFI responses, as well as assisting partners in preparing for business development meetings with current and prospective clients.

The current compensation range is competitive within the market; however, for candidates seeking a package above this range, I am open to further discussion. If this opportunity is of interest, please apply directly or reach out to Sean Sweeney for additional information.
