We are partnered with a leading global law firm in its search for a Public Relations Manager to support its California offices. Based in San Francisco, you will play a central role in shaping and executing the firm's external communications strategy, working closely with lawyers, practice leaders, and business development professionals to enhance the firm's profile across key markets.

This global role forms part of new headcount in the Am Law top 20 firm's California offices, and combines media relations, strategic communications, content development, and stakeholder management. You will serve as a trusted advisor to lawyers and firm leadership, helping to elevate the firm's reputation through proactive media engagement, thought leadership initiatives, and impactful communications programmes.

We are keen to speak with communications and public relations professionals with experience in a law firm or professional services environment. A background supporting litigation practices and established relationships with legal, business, or trade media will be particularly advantageous.

We are open to both PR Managers as well as Senior PR Specialists ready to step into their first managerial position.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Help develop and execute the media relations strategy for the firm's California offices and lawyers, aligning communications activity with practice and business objectives.
  • Manage day-to-day media relations activities, including responding to press enquiries, coordinating statements, and monitoring coverage.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key legal, business, and trade journalists, particularly across California and the West Coast.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel to lawyers, including messaging development and media interview preparation.
  • Collaborate with the wider communications team to enhance the firm's brand awareness and market visibility.
  • Draft press releases, client-facing announcements, and other external communications materials.
  • Identify and secure thought leadership and bylined article opportunities that strengthen the firm's market position.
  • Create compelling content for the firm's website and other communications channels.
  • Support management reporting, research projects, and analysis relating to communications and media activity.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to stakeholders across the business, ensuring communications initiatives are delivered effectively and strategically.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a premier law firm in a role that offers significant visibility, strategic influence, and close interaction with senior lawyers and firm leadership. Reporting into a Senior Manager, this position provides a strong platform for continued professional growth and progression within a highly regarded communications function.
