Market update
Coming off an impressive 2024, the first half of this year has been very robust in terms of legal M&BD hiring. The market is active and candidate-led, but highly competitive, as we see firms continue their focus on strategic additions and employee retention.
Legal M&BD is a pivotal function that drives firm growth through client and practice development. The most in-demand roles reflect this, as we are seeing an uptick in positions focusing on client engagement and management, as well as a demand for experienced BDMs who understand specific practices.
As always, the opportunities for content and pitch specialists remains steady, and the growing field of marketing operations is gaining significant traction. With firms embracing and investing in technology, we see an increasing need for M&BD professionals who can manage data and use it to drive visibility and client targeting.
Most firms are still working under hybrid conditions - a combination of remote and in-person work – although many of the NY-based firms are shifting to a 4 days/week in-office policy.
The market is healthy, as firms continue to seek M&BD talent who bring commercial knowledge, business acumen and creativity to their roles. We expect this activity to continue throughout this year, particularly as firms gear up for business planning and the budgeting process in the second half of this year.
Salaries remain competitive. Regarding these surveys, salaries can vary based on the size of the firm, the responsibilities of the role, geography, etc.
The team at Ambition is always happy to answer any specific questions you have, so please do contact us if we can be of assistance.
