Business Development Manager

Job description

We are working with a gloal law firm on their search for a Business Development Manager for their Energy Industry Sector team.

The BDM will help to frame, drive, and execute the marketing strategy and support business development for the sector globally, as well as internal and external profile-raising initiatives. They will be expected to build strong working relationships with the Sector Group Heads, Sector Team Leads, key partners, and senior members of our global M&BD team.


I would love to speak with professionals from law firms or other professional services firms who currently work in a Business Manager role. Knowledge of the US energy market or interest in learning is beneficial for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Energy Sector Heads and Team Leads to define and execute strategic objectives and growth plans and oversee operations of working groups across Energy Transition and sector sub-groups
  • Developing marketing campaigns and publishing thought leadership content
  • Design and refine tools and strategies that further global Energy Transition objectives and lead and support responses to RFPs and high-priority pitch opportunities
  • Conduct market research and competitive intelligence to inform marketing strategies, proposals, and presentations along with collaborating with global Pitches & Pursuits teams to support cross-sector and firmwide business opportunities.
  • Serve as a relationship lead for key energy sector clients and work closely with the Client Development team to apply best practices in client management across the sector by proactively identifying cross-selling opportunities and collaborating with attorneys and BD professionals to grow client accounts
  • Identify, plan, and execute high-impact internal and external events aligned with business development goals, managing communications, overseeing event-related activities and collaborate with team leaders to execute internal strategy sessions, meetings and retreats
