Business Development Manager - Bankruptcy & Finance

Job description

The Business Development Manager will be based in New York, this position will be responsible for driving the business development and visibility initiatives and priorities for the Bankruptcy, Finance, Derivatives, and Private Credit practices. Support for other practices, industry groups, and lawyers may be assigned as needed.

For their group of transactional practices, the business development manager will be responsible for providing guidance and input on business planning (including target lists, high impact client relationships, publishing and speaking opportunities, and other related initiatives) and drive execution.

This role reports to the Sr. Manager of Business Development and will manage one specialist based in New York.

Responsibilities include:

  • Drive business development and marketing strategy for assigned practices, while also supporting individual partner growth priorities.

  • Lead key directory submissions and contribute to targeted industry award entries.

  • Plan and manage seminars, events (in partnership with the events team), and other high‑impact marketing initiatives.

  • Partner with functional teams to coordinate visibility opportunities, speaking engagements, communications, recognition programs, and digital marketing efforts.

  • Oversee the development of pitches, RFPs (with support from the RFP team), and other client‑facing materials, including leading strategy discussions, internal debriefs, and outcome tracking.

  • Direct the creation and maintenance of practice‑specific marketing collateral, including deal lists, matter collection, and league table submissions.

  • Support client development and cross‑practice initiatives by collaborating with colleagues to identify, prioritize, and advance key client opportunities and firmwide strategic efforts.

  • Serve as a lead on additional department‑ or firm‑wide projects as assigned.
