Business Development Manager (Industry Groups)

Job description

We've partnered with a global Am Law top 50 firm in its search for a Business Development Manager to support its Sports, Technology, Media & Entertainment, and Real Assets industry teams. In this role, you will act as a strategic advisor to partners across the firm, helping to shape and execute integrated business development and marketing strategies that drive revenue growth, deepen client relationships, and enhance market visibility on a global scale.

We would love to speak with individuals who bring strong business development and marketing experience from a law firm or professional services environment. Prior experience supporting industry-focused practices - particularly within Sports, Technology, Media, Entertainment, or Real Assets - would be particularly attractive.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive business development strategies for the Sports, Technology, Media & Entertainment, and Real Assets industry groups, ensuring alignment with firmwide goals and strategic priorities.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to practice leadership, leading regular group meetings, setting agendas, and driving forward actionable growth initiatives.
  • Identify and analyze new business opportunities, client expansion efforts, and cross-selling initiatives across practices and industries.
  • Advise partners on individual business development plans and support lateral partner integration to ensure successful onboarding and market positioning.
  • Lead client targeting programs, including prospect identification, pursuit tracking, and reporting on outcomes and ROI.
  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of high-quality pitches, RFP responses, and client presentations, ensuring tailored and compelling messaging.
  • Collaborate with Competitive Intelligence and Marketing teams to leverage market research, support award submissions, and enhance directory and league table rankings.
  • Manage client-facing events, sponsorships, webinars, and conferences, tracking effectiveness and return on investment.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior business development team members, contributing to overall team development and excellence.
