Business Development Manager (Tax)

Job description

We're supporting a highly ranked global law firm in its search for a Business Development Manager to support its nationally recognized Tax and Compensation & Benefits practices. In this role, you will serve as a trusted business partner to practice leadership and partners across offices, helping to develop and execute client development strategies that strengthen market position and drive revenue across these highly sophisticated practices.

We would love to speak with individuals who bring strong business development and marketing experience from a law firm or professional services environment. Prior exposure to Tax, Executive Compensation, Employee Benefits, or ERISA-related practices would be ideal!

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and execute business development strategies for the Tax and Compensation & Benefits practices in alignment with firmwide goals and priorities.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to practice leadership, identifying growth opportunities, client expansion initiatives, and cross-selling efforts across key industries such as private equity, financial services, sports, healthcare, and nonprofit.
  • Partner with attorneys to create, implement, and monitor individual business development plans.
  • Lead and manage client targeting initiatives, including prospect identification, pursuit tracking, and reporting.
  • Partner with the Competitive Intelligence team to analyze clients, competitors, regulatory developments, and market trends impacting tax and employee benefits.
  • Oversee the preparation of high-quality pitches, RFP responses, and presentations that clearly articulate the strengths of both practices.
  • Collaborate with BD and Marketing colleagues to develop and maintain compelling collateral, including practice descriptions, experience lists, and capability decks.
  • Manage client-facing events, webinars, and thought leadership initiatives, and coordinate sponsorships and industry involvement to enhance practice visibility.
  • Support awards submissions, legal directory entries, and other high-profile marketing initiatives.
