Director of Business Development

Very exciting opportunity to direct business development strategies for an international firm! Reporting to the Chief Business Development and Marketing Officer (CBDMO), the Director of Business Development will support the firm's corporate and transactional practices, including corporate & finance, tax, real estate, and bankruptcy. Based out of the firm's New York or Washington, DC office, this role will be instrumental in driving revenue growth and advancing the firm's market position.

Key responsibilities include developing strategic business growth campaigns; managing industry and sector initiatives; generating new business through targeted sponsorships, events, and strategic partnerships; and producing compelling pitch materials and RFP responses.
The Director manages a team of business development professionals and collaborates closely with senior Marketing leadership, practice leaders, and other key stakeholders to advance BD objectives and facilitate marketing activities. Strong leadership, communication, and team management capabilities are essential.

Essential responsibilities include:

  • Direct and oversee firmwide business development activities; leading the implementation of practice/industry group business plans, client targeting and tracking ROI.
  • Direct and oversee the firm's pitches and RFP responses
  • Lead business development support for certain industry or sector initiatives
  • Facilitate business development training for attorneys at all levels, including training and coaching
  • Coordinate a strategy for BD opportunities associated with the integration of new lateral partners
  • Supervise staff performance, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure skill development for team members and maximum results for BD efforts

The anticipated base salary for this position is $250,000 to $350,000, and the firm may provide a discretionary bonus annually. The firm also offers a comprehensive benefits package and a hybrid working model.
